So i'm teaching myself how to do some CS editing.
So far i've only been able to do some cloaks and they are pretty basic (color changes, adding text/image) but if anyone can tell me some tips for editing cs sets and weapons and stuff that would be cool, what program do you guys use etc.

I learned a bit of Gimp in school, I also read a tutorial to use Paint.Net

I would recommend you to convert the files with paint.net or gimp. Aka open the .dds files and save them as jpeg ord PNG.
After that edit them with photoshop, i prefer cs5 but its up to you what version u would like to use.
A tip: When editing ingame features dont use to bright colours. And to be sure that the colours isnt to bright download a cs viewer to preview your edits.
If you dont have photoshop you can download it easily at: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop
And if you dont want to buy a serial key u can download a keygen from here: http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5523657/Adobe.Photoshop.CS5.Extended.v12.Keygen.Only.EMBRACE-Deantjah
